Therese LaPelle, Owner-Manager, Lil G's Kajun Restaurant
Jefferson Parish, Louisiana

An eloquent, soft-spoken woman, Therese explained to us how her business is struggling to survive. She is devastated by lives that were lost on the oil rig and longs for the day when the livelihood of their community -- fishing & shrimping -- can [safely] return to Louisiana. With quality local seafood hard to come by, she is forced to buy seafood from brokers that are different from what she is used to. We found Therese's restaurant off the side of the main highway leading to Venice, Louisiana - one of the centers of the clean up efforts.
