Lives Per Gallon Story Project The HUMAN Cost of our Oil Addiction Helping Victims of the BP Oil Spill Helping America Take Action to Solve the Oil Crisis
Elaine, Ice Cream Business Owner
Lower St. Bernard's Parish, Louisiana
We met Elaine at the Community Center of St. Bernard where she was looking for job listings on one of the Center's computers. She sells ice cream to the fisherman and their families in lower St. Bernard's Parish. Because of the oil spill her take of $150-$300 a day has dropped to $25-$50 a day. Earlier in the day Elaine had gone to a facility that would assist her in paying her light bill.
