Byron Encalade, Louisiana Oysterman's Association
East Pointe A'La Hache, Louisiana

As President of the Louisiana Oysterman’s Association Byron is a passionate and outspoken advocate for the people, in particular the poor communities and families that are experiencing hardship due to the oil spill. Bryon wasn’t shy about expressing his frustration with BP as well as the state and federal governments who he believes are not up to task and have been more concerned with reputation then helping the people and the region. As Byron explained – they never had a real plan to deal with such a disaster and now - although the oil has stopped – the suffering continues. He had been referred to us by several people and in fact we weren't the only ones seeking him out - Dateline NBC was doing a profile on him at the time of our interview.
