Captain Ted Gauthier, Cajun Encounters Swamp Tours
Honey Island Swamp, Louisiana

Captain Ted leads swamp tours through the Honey Island swamp near Slidell Louisiana. A captivating and passionate storyteller, Ted was raised in and around the swamp and has an intimate relationship with the ecosystem, the wildlife and the region. He fears for its future if oil makes its way in.
Part of our team originally met Captain Ted while vacationing in New Orleans a month after the oil spill had occurred in late May.

To watch Captain's interview click below (Interview conducted July 21, 2010). We asked Captain Ted how the oil spill had affected him; if he was scared that the oil might get into the swamp and what could happen to the ecosystem; what should people know; what can people do to help the situation.
